The evening of the retirement ceremony, we hosted a
thank you and aloha party for our friends and co-workers.
It was a wonderful evening, full of fun and surprises.

Bill and I were involved in the choreography of new routines for
The Country Dancers of Hawaii. The team had recently completed work on
a new waltz routine, and we asked the group to premier it at our party.
We were taken by surprise when Donna (the group's director) announced
that the group had decided to dedicate this routine to us, and they had named it "The Sweetheart Waltz". We are remided of this every time we hear and dance to the Forrester Sisters' "Their Hearts Were Dancing".

Donna surprised Bill by choreographing a new line dance in honor of his retirement from the Air Force. The rest of the group was in on the secret, and at the party, Bill was presented with a beautifully framed printout of the dance, signed by everyone who performed it with us at the party. Bill had learned the dance earlier, but was surprised to learn that its real name was "Bill's 11:00 P.M. Butt-Wiggle Boogie". Bill had a reputation for suddenly becoming the life of the party at 11:00 p.m., just as everyone else was about ready to call it a night!

We were very honored by two of Bill's co-workers dancing special hulas for us.

Along with all the beautiful leis, you will notice that my Dad presented Bill with a way to make his living following his retirement - sunglasses, a cane and a tin cup!

Everyone had a great time - wish we could do it all again!
